Bridge Neurotech is hiring a PhD-level neuroscience intern for six months, turning raw functional ultrasound acquisitions into validated scientific insight alongside its imaging scientists.

About the role

Bridge Neurotech is building a non-invasive functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) platform with AI-based neural decoding for brain-computer interface applications. It is a seed-stage neurotechnology company based in Redwood City, with custom hardware, imaging science, real-time compute, neural decoding and research studies under one roof.

About the role

This is a six-month internship or co-op for a PhD student in neuroscience or a related field, working alongside the imaging scientists, software engineers and research collaborators on turning raw functional ultrasound acquisitions into validated scientific insight.

It is hands-on and interdisciplinary, and suits someone as comfortable at a study session as writing Python to process the data it produces.

What you will do

  • Help design and run data collection for the research study, including on-site acquisition sessions with research participants.
  • Work with the imaging scientists to validate ultrasound sequences and check data quality from acquisition through analysis.
  • Build and maintain pipelines that organise, convert, clean and version research datasets.
  • Analyse neuroimaging data with collaborating neuroscientists, covering statistical analysis, signal processing and visualisation.
  • Work with the ML team on neural decoders and encoders trained on this data.
  • Present results to the team at the end of the six months.

What they are looking for

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD programme in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, data science or a closely related field.
  • Available full time for six months.
  • Hands-on experience with neuroimaging data such as fMRI, fUSI or EEG, including processing and analysis.
  • Strong Python with scientific computing libraries, and experience building reproducible analysis pipelines.
  • Nice to have: functional ultrasound experience, ML frameworks for biomedical signal analysis, and clinical or human research study experience.
