Bridge Neurotech is hiring a hardware engineer to turn ideas into physical parts and the making of those parts into a repeatable process, across CAD, 3D printing and lab tooling.
Bridge Neurotech is building a non-invasive functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) platform with AI-based neural decoding for brain-computer interface applications. It is a seed-stage neurotechnology company based in Redwood City, with custom hardware, imaging science, real-time compute, neural decoding and research studies under one roof.
About the role
Almost nothing Bridge builds can be bought, so the company makes its own as one-off or low-volume production. This role owns that work: design it, build it, test it, scale it.
It is a hands-on lab role with significant breadth: CAD in the morning, soldering in the afternoon, and Python scripting in between. The team expects you to use AI coding tools to build automations and bespoke tooling.
What you will do
- Design and iterate mechanical parts in CAD, including probe housings, mounts, fixtures, enclosures and lab hardware.
- Own 3D printing: run and maintain the printers, dial in materials and profiles, and keep turnaround measured in hours.
- Build the workflow and automation around 3D printing and CNC, including scripted slicing, print farm monitoring, CAM setup and part tracking.
- Develop processes for low-volume production such as mould design, casting, potting, bonding and finishing.
- Handle fine-pitch and through-hole soldering, cable and harness assembly, and careful assembly of delicate parts.
- Build and maintain test fixtures and benchtop setups, and write Python for automation, instrument control and data logging.
What they are looking for
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Working proficiency in CAD, covering parametric modelling, assemblies, drawings and design for manufacturing.
- Hands-on 3D printing experience and the judgment to know when a part should be printed, machined or moulded.
- Strong technician skills across soldering, harness building and precision assembly.
- Demonstrated Python, enough to write a real script without it being a project, and fluency with AI coding tools.
- Nice to have: PCB layout in Altium, CNC machining, and prior work in a startup or small team.
