Bridge Neurotech is hiring a hardware engineering intern for a six-month placement, working across CAD, 3D printing, soldering and Python tooling in its Redwood City lab.

About the role

Bridge Neurotech is building a non-invasive functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) platform with AI-based neural decoding for brain-computer interface applications. It is a seed-stage neurotechnology company based in Redwood City, with custom hardware, imaging science, real-time compute, neural decoding and research studies under one roof.

About the role

This is a six-month internship or co-op helping turn ideas into physical parts. Almost nothing Bridge builds can be bought, so the company makes its own as one-off or low-volume production, and the intern works across all of it: design it, build it, test it, improve it.

It is a hands-on lab role with breadth: CAD in the morning, soldering in the afternoon, and Python scripting in between.

What you will do

  • Design and iterate parts in CAD, including probe housings, mounts, fixtures, enclosures and lab hardware.
  • Run the 3D printers: dial in materials and profiles, manage the queue and keep turnaround measured in hours.
  • Help build the automation around 3D printing and CNC, including scripted slicing and job submission, print monitoring and part tracking.
  • Help develop processes for low-volume part production such as moulding, casting, potting and bonding.
  • Handle soldering, cable and harness assembly, and careful assembly of delicate parts.
  • Build test fixtures and benchtop setups, and write Python for automation, instrument control and inventory tracking.

What they are looking for

  • Enrolled in a bachelor's programme in mechanical or electrical engineering, in junior year or later, or in a master's programme.
  • Available full time for six months.
  • Working proficiency in CAD and hands-on 3D printing experience.
  • Comfortable soldering both boards and wire, and assembling precision hardware.
  • Some Python, enough to write a real script, and comfort using AI coding tools.
  • Nice to have: PCB layout in Altium, CNC machining, and personal projects or a shop of your own.
