Constellation is building a foundation model of human state, translating multimodal human data into generalizable embeddings to power clinical, robotic and AI systems. It is a venture-backed team of 15 to 20 researchers and engineers based in San Francisco's Mission District.

About the role

Constellation runs internships across three areas, framed as real work on real problems rather than shadowing.

• Research interns, especially those with coursework or research experience in foundation models, multi-modal models, or AI safety and alignment.
• Applied science interns, suited to people who find patterns in complex data and translate insights into action.
• Hardware engineering interns, with hands-on experience in embedded systems, sensors or human-computer interfaces, supporting the custom hardware and sensor integration behind data collection.

• Strong fundamentals in your field, shown through coursework, research, personal projects or prior internships.
• Genuine curiosity about the human condition and how technology can enhance our understanding of ourselves.
• The ability to thrive in ambiguity, ask good questions and take ownership of problems end to end.
• Availability for a 3 to 6 month full-time, on-site internship in San Francisco.
