Precision Neuroscience is hiring a staff accountant to manage general ledger accounting, monthly close and reconciliation, supporting the annual audit as the organization scales.
Precision Neuroscience is building a next-generation brain-computer interface for people living with neurological conditions. Its first product, Layer 7, is designed to help people with severe paralysis operate digital devices using only their thoughts. Founded in 2021, the company has raised more than $180 million and has initiated human trials with hospitals across the country.
About the role
This role manages core general ledger accounting, monthly close procedures and financial reconciliation, working with cross-functional teams to build scalable accounting processes.
Month-end close
- Prepare and maintain prepaid expense schedules, including monthly amortization entries and reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger, covering additions, disposals and monthly depreciation.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, resolving variances with audit-ready documentation.
Accounts payable
- Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports, performing 2-way and 3-way match against purchase orders.
- Review invoices for approvals, coding and internal controls compliance.
- Maintain vendor records and prepare AP aging reports.
Audit and tax support
- Prepare supporting schedules for the annual financial statement audit and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Assist with workpapers supporting tax filings and documentation for tax credit studies such as R&D credits.
What they are looking for
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
- 1 to 3 or more years of accounting experience; startup, life sciences or medical device environments a plus.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and month-end close, plus ERP experience with NetSuite preferred.
- Strong Excel skills; CPA or progress toward it is a plus rather than a requirement.
