About the role

This role joins the Mechanical Engineering team to lead design and development of intraoperative neuromonitoring devices and navigated surgical instruments. It suits an engineer experienced with mechanical design of Class II medical devices who thrives in regulated environments and can take ownership from concept through commercialization.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design and development of Class II medical devices, including intraoperative neuromonitoring devices and navigated handheld surgical instruments.
• Execute hands-on design, testing and process development for neuronavigated instruments deploying the micro electrode array onto the cortical surface.
• Design for manufacturability and assembly of injection-molded plastic components, precision assemblies and electromechanical systems.
• Integrate surgical hardware with commercial navigation systems and patient planning interfaces such as StealthStation, maximizing endpoint accuracy, reliability and safety.
• Work with partners, external vendors and contract manufacturers on tooling, molding and assembly processes.
• Develop and manage CAD models, drawings and design documentation in line with design control requirements.

What they are looking for

• A BS or MS in mechanical or biomedical engineering or similar.
• 6+ years of industry experience, preferably in medical devices at Class II or higher.
• Proven experience designing plastic enclosures for electronic systems, covering injection molding, ingress protection and EMI/EMC considerations.
• Experience developing precision mechanical systems, probes, catheters or handheld medical instruments.
• Experience with design controls, risk management and regulated product development.
• Expertise in CAD (SolidWorks) and finite element analysis.
