Merge Labs is hiring a mechanical engineer to own mechanical architecture and packaging for its high-density BCI hardware, from R&D prototypes through to production.

About the role

Merge Labs is a frontier research lab working to bridge biological and artificial intelligence. It is developing new approaches to brain-computer interfaces that interact with the brain at high bandwidth, integrate with advanced AI, and are intended to be safe and accessible.

What you will do

  • Own mechanical architecture and packaging for high-density BCI hardware, from R&D prototypes to production.
  • Prototype rapidly using 3D printing and CNC, and perform thermal modeling.
  • Design scientist-facing fixtures and tooling.
  • Define quantitative acceptance criteria and drive EVT, DVT and PVT alongside DFM and DFA with vendors.
  • Establish mechanical reliability and repeatability testing protocols.
