Merge Labs is a frontier research lab working to bridge biological and artificial intelligence. It is developing new approaches to brain-computer interfaces that interact with the brain at high bandwidth, integrate with advanced AI, and are intended to be safe and accessible.

About the team

The Lab and Facilities Operations team owns the end-to-end lifecycle of Merge's R&D environment, from building the physical infrastructure to operating it at scale: lab operations, equipment and facilities management, safety and compliance, workplace operations, procurement and logistics.

What you will do

• Keep the physical site ready for science and daily work: walkthroughs, janitorial coordination, space moves, facility equipment management, physical security touchpoints and first-pass repairs.
• Act as first line of defense for lab equipment issues, troubleshooting and self-repairing where appropriate and coordinating service when needed.
• Support the lab utility systems experiments depend on, including vacuum, compressed air, RODI, autoclaves and dishwashers.
• Own the flow of goods through the site: shipping, receiving, unpacking, logging, internal movement and storage.
• Maintain the physical condition of the office and lab, and coordinate facilities vendors and trades.
• Support workplace operations for a growing team, and help execute small facilities projects and buildout work.
• Build the operating discipline behind the function through vendor lists, maintenance records, service histories and recurring checklists.

You might thrive here if you have

• Hands-on facilities or lab operations experience, ideally in a wet lab, biotech or similarly equipment-heavy environment.
• A strong mechanical instinct and real comfort inside a lab.
• Good judgment around building systems and vendors, and a bias toward order and preventive maintenance.
• Enough technical literacy for spreadsheets, asset databases, ticketing systems, BMS interfaces and inventory tools.
