Science is hiring a quality assurance specialist to run inspections and in-process controls across the manufacturing of its implantable products at its Durham site.

About the role

Science is a clinical stage, vertically integrated technology company working on neuroscience's hardest questions and most serious unmet medical needs, building devices aimed at restoring vision, cognition and mobility. It also provides components and infrastructure for others to build on through Science Foundry.

About the role

This role supports the quality and conformity of Science's implantable product throughout manufacturing, performing quality inspections, in-process controls and finished product testing against established procedures, maintaining documentation and contributing to the Quality Management System.

What you will do

  • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections of medical device components and finished products.
  • Conduct dimensional, visual and functional testing using appropriate measurement equipment and test methods.
  • Document inspection and test results in the Quality Management System, and identify and report non-conforming products.
  • Manage the Materials Review Board and handle receipt and inspection of product returns.
  • Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, complete inspection reports, test records and batch release documentation.
  • Participate in internal audits, support external regulatory inspections and ensure material traceability.
  • Participate in CAPA investigations and contribute to quality control procedure development.

What they are looking for

  • A 2+ year diploma or degree in quality, industrial processes or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years in quality control, preferably in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Professional written and verbal proficiency in English and French.
  • Preferred: knowledge of ISO 13485 and experience with implantable or Class III devices.
