Nia Therapeutics is hiring a research specialist to build device prototypes, support bench and pre-clinical testing, and help plan its first-in-human studies for memory restoration.

About the role

Nia Therapeutics develops brain stimulation devices to restore memory function after brain injury and degenerative disease, with a team drawn from engineering, neuroscience and neurosurgery. In March 2026 its Smart Neurostimulation System, a wireless, 60-channel, AI-enabled neurostimulation platform, received FDA Breakthrough Device designation, and the company is preparing for its first in-human studies.

About the role

This role joins the growing engineering team and covers a wide range of tasks supporting engineering work, device testing, pre-clinical testing, and planning the first-in-human studies using the SNS. It reports to the CEO, and to other members of the leadership team when assigned to specific projects.

What you will do

  • Build device prototypes at the bench.
  • Assist with bench testing, pre-clinical testing and quality engineering.
  • Assist with planning and executing the upcoming first-in-human studies.
  • Conduct patient testing and interviews, and engage with patient advocacy groups.

What they are looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, neuroscience or cognitive science.
  • Research experience working with humans or animals in studies measuring and analyzing behavioral data.
  • Quantitative coursework in mathematics and statistics beyond calculus level.
  • Clear mission alignment with a team developing therapies for memory loss.

This in-person position is based at the Allston, MA offices and requires periodic travel to the Philadelphia office and to contract manufacturer sites. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US.
